Estevan Florial not feeling any prospect pressure

TAMPA -- Estevan Florial is the No. 38 overall prospect in baseball according to Baseball America, and with Gleyber Torres' Major League debut surely coming in 2018, Florial could be the No. 1 prospect in the Yankees organization at some point this season.

"It's great," Florial smiled when asked about his rankings, "but it's even better to be there as part of the New York Yankees. To be a top prospect in the best organization in baseball is a great thing."

Florial is still a long way from the Majors -- he played just 19 games at High-A last season, and made a playoff cameo in Double-A -- but he made it to big league Spring Training for the first time this year, and was ready to make it as great of a learning experience as possible.

"I cannot come in here and not find ways to improve," he said. "I want to learn as much as I can from the guys who have been here, because I feel like I can learn something from everybody…but maybe I'll be able to show something of myself, too."

Florial will likely at least begin his age-20 season at High-A, but no matter where he goes, all eyes are going to be on him -- but don't worry about him being a youngster who might crack under pressure.

"I don't feel any (prospect pressure), because whether you're a top prospect or not, the work is the same, and you have to keep working on your game no matter what," he said. "And, when you wear this uniform, the pinstripes, you have to always be on top of your game, and you know that."
