New York Yankees re-sign outfielder Jace Peterson ahead of Monday's game

NEW YORK - The Yankees announced Monday afternoon that they have re-signed infielder/outfielder Jace Peterson to a Major-League deal, and Peterson would be in uniform for Monday night's game.

Peterson originally signed a Minor-League deal with the Yankees last winter, and he was added to the 25-man roster on April 7, going 3-for-9 with a walk in two games before being designated for assignment on April 10.

On Sunday, he elected free agency instead of accepting an outright assignment to Triple-A, but he was re-signed a day later to take the 25-man roster spot of RHP Luis Cessa, who was optioned to Triple-A on Sunday.
